I am so very thankful for the time with friends and family before I left. Even though they were only "see you laters" (and not goodbyes), they were still tough.
The final send off
I made it to the Dominican Republic!!!!! This is my new housemate Rachel!
I made a few new friends. Every evening these critters join me (on the outside of my window) before bed. :)
I have a new alarm clock :)
I have cooked some new things . These are plantains. They look like bananas, but when fried they are kind of like a mix between fries and chips. They are good!
With a lot of help from some fellow missionaries the furniture in my room is built! I still have a bit of unpacking to do and am waiting for my mattress, but getting closer to being "settled" in one step at a time!
I learned that the numbers on my oven are in Celsius, not Fahrenheit.
Note: when you try to cook brownies using F, when your oven is made to use C, the result will be very burnt brownies. :)
I have been studying Spanish, but still have a long road ahead. This is Marybell. I get to meet with her daily to practice my Spanish!
My house did a little dance :).
I am starting to meet some of the kids as I observe in the classroom and during chapel. This past week I was able to help with a half day "camp" for our third graders.
Meet my new team!!!
I am so thankful to be here and look forward to sharing even more stories with you in the future! God is using this place for His kingdom work and it is a privilege to be a part of it!
For Him and Through Him,
Jade
